29 CFR 1926.301(d): The wooden handles of tools shall be kept free of splinters or cracks and shall be kept tight in the tool. a. Located at the site, employees were removing concrete rigging hardware (pancake) with a 2 pound hammer that had a cracked wooden handle from under 6 foot by 10 foot sections of concrete that was on the forks of a John Deere 544H front-end loader. The employees were at risk of being struck by the hammer's metal head due to the handle being damaged.
