Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing injuries, lacerations, and broken and fractured bones when 13 roof trusses collapsed: Medical Center Drive - The employer did not properly brace roof trusses as per the Truss Plate Institute. The employer did not install the Stabilizer per manufacturer specifications. This resulted in 13 roof trusses collapsing sending 4 employees to the hospital. Among other methods, one feasible means of abatement would be to follow the recommendations of the Truss Plate Institute and the manufacturer specification of the Stabilizer.
