Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that liftline of an employee using a single point suspension system was not rigged independently of the primary support system: a) Academy House, 1420 Locust Street, Phila, Pa. 19102 - employee attached lifeline to the primary support system, resulting in a fall of 38 stories (fatality occurred 12/12/90). Observed 12/12/90 NOTE: One useful and feasible means of abatement, among others, would be to ensure that separate attachment points are used for working lines and lifelines on every job.
