Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: fall hazard at the ten and twenty foot levels when unloading equipment off the platform of an equipment elevator lift. a) 22 Springwater Way, Ringtown, PA - Employees rode on the exterior step and in the cab area of a Case 580 Super L Loader Backhoe while the driver was moving from location to location, disclosed on or about 08/02/11. ABATEMENT OBSERVED DURING INSPECTION NO CERTIFICATION REQUIRED ABATEMENT NOTE: Among others, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to follow the manufactures safety instructions: Do not allow other persons to ride anywhere on this machine.
