Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: Employee was working from a unapproved work platform (wooden pallet) that was elevated by an unoccupied Gehl skid steer loader at a height greater than 8 feet to ground. Employee was exposed to falling hazards. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: Use only manufactured approved work platforms as required by ANSI/ASME B56.1-1993.2 29 CFR 1903.19(c)(1) requires certification that the abatement of the above violation is completed.
