Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to caught between hazards, while performing metal fabrication work: On or about 12/11/07 at Warrenton, GA: Employees were exposed to caught between hazards, while performing metal fabrication work. The employer failed to establish specific die setting procedures, and perform frequent and periodic inspections of all press brakes. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: 1. The company should establish specific die setting procedures, and perform frequent and regular inspections of all press brakes as required in ANSI B11.3-1982(R1994) paragraphs E6.1.5 and E5.1.4. (Power Press Brakes - Safety Requirements for Construction, Care, and Use) In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
