Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CUTS
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a amputation hazard: Employees were exposed to laceration and amputation hazards when operating a AEW Thurne 400 Band Saw due to the following reasons: a.Separated Production Room located on the north side of the building: the blade on the AEW Thurne Band Saw, serial number LHS 324396 was observed to spin freely (free wheel) for one minute after the employee had deenergized this equipment. b.Separated Production Room located on the north side of the building: the filler insert (throat) was missing from the cutting table of the AEW Thurne 400 Band Saw where the blade penetrates the table surface.
