P.L. 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard(s) of ammonia exposure due to the unsafe design and operation of the refrigeration system pressure relief piping system: a) Rooftop near the #8 Air Handling Unit - In the area where employees perform routine preventive maintenance inspections, the ammonia pressure relief discharge was only eight feet above the rooftop. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to discharge ammonia from pressure relief devices to the atmosphere not less than 15 feet above the adjacent grade or roof level in accordance with ANSI/IIAR 2-1999 Section 7.3.2.n
