Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)West side of the roof where an employee was observed working at the edge of the roof and he was not protected by any type of fall protection system. He was applying cement or plaster to the external wall of the building. Hazard: fall of approximately 20 feet. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method for abatement is to provide safety belts and life lines for employees to use when working at elevation.
