Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a.At the workplace, the employer did not label the"C" hooks used on the cranes to transport steel coils from on place to another with the rated load capacity, thus exposing employees to a struck-by hazard. b.At the workplace, the employer did not label the back-up roll extractors used on the cranes to remove/install rolls in the different mills used at the facility with the rated load capacity, thus exposing employees to a struck-by hazard. c.At the workplace, the employer did not label the "mansaver" or "scoop" used on the cranes to transport steel coils from their storage areas to the truck trailers for shipment with the rated load capacity, thus exposing employees to a struck-by hazard. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to affix data plates to the "C" hooks, the back-up roll extractors and the "mansaver" in accordance with ASME Standard B30.20, Section 20-1.2.
