Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of falling to the concrete floor below: (a) On, or about June 19, 1991, employee working at the third level of Building A on a concrete beam, 25 feet long, 28 inches wide, and some sixteen feet and nine inches above the floor, was exposed to falls due to no fall protection. Feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard is the use of scaffolding under the concrete beam, the use of a ladder, or safety belt and lanyard.
