Abstract: At 10:40 a.m. on January 26, 2017, two employees were utilizing a Freightliner auger boom truck to aid in moving equipment and digging out holes for the replacement of broken guardrails. The truck has an insulated boom, but only when the three sections are fully extended. The employees were working at two different sections of the guardrail when the truck boom was moved to within 24 inches of 7.6 kV overhead power lines. The boom was not extended to provide insulated protection. Electricity arced between the boom and lines; electrifying the truck and trailer and resulting in the hospitalization of two employees due to electrical shock.
