Abstract: At approximately 11:30 a.m. on June 26, 2006, Employee #1, an electrician, was cutting a 2-in. by 4-in. piece of wood on a table with a portable electric saw. He was cutting off 14 inches to make a light box. His hand was holding the wood on the table and slipped back into the blade of the saw when the blade became stuck. The saw had a guard that flips over the blade. Employee #1 received injuries to four fingers on the left hand and the top part of the index finger was amputated with some loss of bone. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
