Abstract: On September 9, 2005, Employee #1 and a coworker were on a steel beam approximately 23 ft above grade, carrying a purlin. The coworker caught his foot on the purlin, lost his balance, and dropped his end of the purlin on the beam. This caused Employee #1 to lose his balance; he then fell forward to a concrete floor. Another worker came to Employee #1's assistance. Employee #1 was hospitalized at Kern Medical Center for treatment of a fractured femur and injuries to his right heel and left knee.
