Abstract: At approximately 7:45 a.m. on August 22, 2006, Employee #1, a landscaping laborer, was cutting a 2 inch by 2.5 inch rectangular hole into the side of a plastic pipe measuring 4 inches in diameter. The 4-inch pipe was used for irrigation. As Employee #1 was using a cutting knife in his right hand to cut the rectangular hole, the knife slipped and struck his left wrist. Employee #1 was taken to an urgent care medical clinic in La Quinta, California, where he received treatment for a serious laceration to his left wrist. He was later transferred to Eisenhower Medical Center in La Quinta, CA, where he was hospitalized and underwent surgery.
