Abstract: At 11:55 a.m. on January 24, 2002, Employee #1 was assisting a coworker in moving several steel beams. They were both assigned to build posts out of 6- inch tubes. Each tube weighed approximately 450 to 750 pounds. While they were lifting, Employee #1 slipped and lost his balance. The company owner, in the immediate vicinity, could see what was happening and rushed forward to help. However, Employee #1 continued to falter and unintentionally smashed his right hand against another stationary tube. Employee #1's middle finger on his right hand was amputated, when his hand became caught between two steel beams.
