Abstract: At approximately 2:20 p.m. on January 16, 2003, Employee #1 and a coworker were standing on a steel beam to guide wooden trusses. The employees were working for Gamut Construction Company, Inc. The steel beam was 28 ft high and 14 in. wide. The employees were on opposite sides of beam so that they could guide the wooden truss in to the appropriate slot. In this operation, the coworker was to lower his end first and as it fell into the hangar, Employee #1 was there to hold it. However, at the time of the accident, Employee #1 had to let the wooden truss go because it was too heavy and he lost his balance, falling 28 ft onto the cement floor. Employee #1 sustained multiple injuries, including a fractured right arm and was hospitalized for two and half weeks. Neither employees were wearing or using fall protection.
