Abstract: Employee #1 and two coworkers were painting a two-story house. He was standing on the tile roof of the garage to power-wash the exterior walls of the second story when he slipped and fell 8 ft onto the wooden deck. He sustained injuries that required hospitalization. The day before the accident, the owner of the house had applied a water seal compound to the deck and it had not dried completely when the crew began work. Employee #1 apparently had some residue of the compound on the soles of his shoes, which made his footing more slippery. The owner had not told the crew about the water seal application. Employee #1 was not using any form of fall protection.
