Abstract: On January 25, 2006, an employee was standing on a 3-ft high mobile scaffold platform, performing maintenance work. He was using a pocketknife to remove molding from a wall in the hallway of a private residence. As he was working, the scaffold moved because the caster wheels were not locked. The employee lost his balance and fell forward, striking his head against the wall. He was taken by emergency medical services to the hospital. Seventeen days later, he contracted pneumonia, suffered a stroke, and died.
