Abstract: At about 8:15 a.m. on September 19, 2006, Employee #1 was working for a residential building contractor. The job involved remodeling a private residence. Carpenters were framing a chimney and cutting lumber with a Bosch model HD77M saw (SN HF 1769). Employee #1 was at the rear of the building at ground level cutting a piece of lumber (measuring 2 inches by 6 inches by 9 feet 7 inches) which was supported by a pair of saw horses. He was holding the lumber with his left hand and the saw with his right hand, when the saw kicked back and partially amputated his left thumb. Employee #1 was taken by a co-worker to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, and was admitted at approximately 10:00 a.m. He was treated, hospitalized, and released during the afternoon of September 20, 2006.
