Abstract: At approximately 9:40 a.m. on November 4, 1994, Employee #1, a production worker, was using a CTD Cut Off saw, model #M225, serial #1682. He states that he was holding a piece of wood with his left hand and that he had placed his right hand on the lever to pull down the saw blade, which is covered by a guard. His right hand slipped off the handle and somehow went under the guard into the blade. He sustained a cut between the thumb and index finger of his right hand. 911 was called and he was transported by Pruner Ambulance Service to Pleasant Valley Hospital, where he was treated and released. When questioned on how this event occurred, Employee #1 stated that he did not know how his right hand was cut when he was using his right hand to pull down the saw blade. The employer will be cited under T8CCR 3203 for inadequate training.
