Abstract: A power line worker was 22 to 25 feet above the ground on a utility pole, performing electrical work. His supervisor had descended the pole. He was going to do the same. As he began to descend, he had to go around some conductors on the pole. He wedged his foot under some fiber-optic cables and held on with his hand as he was turning. His foot slipped; however, the employee was able to grab on with his left hand. His arm then hit the fiber-optic cables, and he lost his grip. He fell about 6 feet, was unable to hold himself up, and fell about 22 feet to the concrete. The employee sustained two fractured heels and fractures of the fibula and tibia on his right leg. He was hospitalized for his injuries.
