Abstract: On March 22, 1994, Employee #1, an apprentice gunsmith, was repairing cracks in the wooden grips of a 45 caliber Argentina pistol that had been brought to a gun shop to be repaired. The pistol had been received by the store owner without its ammunition clip. Employee #1 removed the grips from the weapon, repaired the cracks in the grips, and set the grips up to dry overnight. On March 23, 1994, Employee #1 made several final repairs to the pistol. At approximately 12:00 noon, Employee #1 took the pistol to the hallway cleaning area to blow dust off the pistol. While Employee #1 was cleaning the weapon, it accidentally discharged and the bullet struck him in the chest. Emergency medical help was summoned and Employee #1 was rushed to Hillcrest Hospital. He died the same day.
