Abstract: At 1:40 p.m. on December 4, 2019, Employee #1, a laborer, was working on a roof, cleaning the gutter and was wearing fall protection. Employee #1 needed to use the bathroom, so he unhooked himself from the fall protection system and walked towards the ladder that he was using to descend to the ground. While walking towards the ladder, he tripped and fell down to the ground, suffering a broken left ankle. He stated that the path to the ladder was clear of any obstruction. Employee #1 stated that he was working by himself on one side of the roof the day of the accident and that other workers were on the other side of the roof unable to see what happened. Employee #1 mentioned that he received a brief training on how to put on the harness. Employee #1 was transported to Stanford Hospital and was hospitalized for over 24 hours due to his injuries (a broken ankle).
