WASHINGTON - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is accepting nominations for members to serve on the Maritime Advisory Committee for Occupational Safety and Health.
The 15-member committee advises the Secretary of Labor on matters relating to occupational safety and health programs, enforcement, new initiatives, and standards for maritime industries in the United States including longshoring, marine terminals, commercial fishing, and shipyard employment. The committee meets approximately two times per year.
Members serve a two-year term, which begins from the date of appointment by the Secretary of Labor. Nominations may be submitted at www.regulations.gov, the Federal eRulemaking Portal, by mail or facsimile. See the Federal Register notice for submission requirements. The deadline for nominations is July 20, 2015.
The current MACOSH membership term expires on Jan. 16, 2016. General inquiries should be directed to Amy Wangdahl, director, OSHA Office of Maritime and Agriculture, at 202-693-2086.
Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees.
