US Department of Labor's OSHA promotes free safety and
health training expo for construction workers in South Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - South Florida construction workers will receive free training in the recognition and prevention of construction safety and health hazards on Saturday, May 15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. EDT at the Sheridan Technical Center in Hollywood, Fla.

This South Florida Safety Expo, co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the South Florida and Florida's East Coast Associated General Contractors of America chapters and the Sheridan Technical Center, is intended to provide formal and interactive training for workers in the construction industry. The expo will offer 15 safety courses in both English and Spanish.

"Once again Florida's construction community is demonstrating its commitment to worker safety and health by coming together in support of the 10th annual South Florida Safety Expo," said Darlene Fossum, OSHA's area director in Fort Lauderdale.

Training will be provided by safety and health professionals from the South Florida area. Exhibitors will offer products and services that support construction workplace safety and health programs.
