US Labor Department's OSHA to provide free construction safety and health
training March 24 at Hyundai Training Center in Montgomery, Ala.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration is offering free training to employers and employees in preventing construction-related injuries and illnesses during the Central Alabama Construction Safety Conference and Expo on Thursday, March 24, at the Hyundai Training Center, 900 Hyundai Blvd, Montgomery, Ala. 36108.
The one-day conference is designed to provide information to contractors, workers and others about construction safety and health. Topics to be addressed during the event will include excavation and trenching, machine guarding, fall protection, crane safety, confined space hazards, forklift safety, the National Fire Protection Association's standard for electrical safety and OSHA's recordkeeping requirements.
"Accidents at construction sites are a major concern, and our focus is on preventing work-related injuries, illnesses and fatalities," said Kurt Petermeyer, OSHA's area director in Mobile. "The sixth annual Central Alabama Safety Construction Conference and Expo is helping achieve this goal by providing free information on a wide range of safety- and health-related subjects to employers and employees."
The event is being sponsored by OSHA, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, the Home Builders Association of Alabama, the city of Montgomery, the University of Alabama–Safe State Onsite Consultation Service, the National Safety Council–Alabama Chapter, Alabama Power Coastal Insurance, Custard Insurance Adjusters, Thermalex, AFS Canteen, Crane Works, Brand Services and the Associated General Contractors–Alabama Chapter.
