Hispanic Family Health and Safety Fair to be Held in Rochester June 25
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Helping Western New York's Hispanic workers and their families identify and prevent health and safety hazards is the goal of the "Hispanic Family Health and Safety Fair" to be held Sunday, June 25 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Coca Cola Bottling Plant and Distribution Center, 123 Upper Falls Blvd., Rochester.
The fair is designed for the entire family. Workers will be able to attend Spanish language training sessions on identifying and correcting hazards in construction and general industry workplaces. Families will be eligible for health screenings and learn about health services from a variety of exhibits and vendors. Games and other activities will be available to entertain children. The fair will also feature live entertainment and a prize drawing.
"Hispanic workers face significant health and safety risks both on and off the job," said Art Dube, Western New York area director for the U.S. Occupational Safety ad Health Administration (OSHA). "The fair is a family-friendly event that seeks to equip those workers and their families with important and useful information to help them protect themselves against common health and safety hazards."
The fair is being presented by a coalition of area groups, including OSHA, Rochester Institute of Technology OSHA Education Center, and the Rochester Primary Care Network.
