National Jewish Health Denver CO $139,924 General Industry Beryllium
The grantee will develop and implement training on the hazards of working with beryllium, targeting workers and employers at four beryllium industry partners. The training will cover health effects, signs and symptoms of beryllium disease, methods of exposure, high-risk processes and jobs, and protective measures. Training materials will include a presenter script.
International Association of Fire Fighters Washington DC $220,000 General Industry Emergency Preparedness
The grantee will implement a chemical process industry emergency response training program for at risk workers and employers in small fire departments. Materials will include a participant manual and instructor guide.
Roofers and Waterproofers Research and Education Joint Trust Washington DC $29,755 Construction Green Jobs Industry Hazards
The grantee will implement safety training on the special hazards and practices of green roofing for workers. The training materials will include an instructor guide and trainee take-away booklet. The grantee will make the training materials available on its website in English and Spanish.
Sustainable Workplace Alliance Stuart FL $198,150 General Industry Green Jobs Industry Hazards
The grantee will implement training to workers and employers exposed to health hazards involving the use of spray polyurethane foam which includes methylene diphenel diisocyanate and polyolresins. Training will include the safe transporting, handling, cutting/scraping, heating, and grinding of this product.
Owensboro Community and Technical College Owensboro KY $150,000 Both Construction and General Industry Electrical Safety
The grantee will implement electrical safety training for workers and employers in the manufacturing industry in western Kentucky and southern Indiana. The training will target limited-English speaking, non-English speaking, low-literacy, other hard-to-reach workers, and small businesses.
National Association of Home Builders Research Center Upper Marlboro MD $220,000 Construction Fall Protection
The grantee will present fall protection training for at-risk workers and employers in residential construction. The training will target small business contractors, and non-English speaking and minority workers. Training will be delivered in both English and Spanish.
Ozarks Technical Community College Springfield MO $181,674 General Industry Confined Space Hazards in General Industry
The grantee will develop and implement confined space training to small business workers and employers at over 20 manufacturing companies in south central and southwest Missouri. Training materials will include a CD for participants.
North Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Project Greensboro NC $80,000 Both Construction and General Industry Musculoskeletal Disorders and Ergonomic Principles
The grantee will implement training on recognizing and reducing/eliminating musculoskeletal hazards to workers and employers in North Carolina. The training will target limited-English, youth, and temporary workers. Training will be offered in both English and Spanish.
UMDNJ-School of Public Health Piscataway NJ $220,000 Construction Focus Four
The grantee will implement a bilingual training program for workers and employers regarding construction focus four hazards: falls, electric, struck-by and caught in between. The program will target small construction employers, and temporary workers. Five sessions will be presented in Spanish.
Ohio State University Columbus OH $200,000 General Industry Musculoskeletal Disorders and Ergonomic Principles
The grantee will implement training for workers on musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) and ergonomic principles. Training will focus on hazards faced by the hotel industry in OSHA Region V and will target young minority and limited English speaking workers.
Hispanic Contractor's Association de San Antonio, Inc San Antonio TX $119,800 General Industry Safety & Health Programs
The grantee will implement training on the creation of a safety and health program that includes such topics as worksite safety analysis. The training will target small-to-medium sized construction companies in the San Antonio area.
Texas Engineering Extension Service College Station TX $198,012 Construction Work Zone Safety
The grantee will implement bi-lingual work zone safety training to construction workers and employers in OSHA Region VI. The grantee will update its existing Work Zone Traffic Control and Defensive Flagging training courses and translate them into Spanish.
William Marsh Rice University Houston TX $236,000 General Industry Nanotechnology
The grantee will develop and implement a variety of materials and training modules on the safe handling of nano materials. The targeted audience is workers whose primary responsibility is safety within small-to-medium sized chemical companies that manufacture or process nano materials.
Professional Landcare Network Herndon VA $164,900 General Industry Landscaping & Tree Service Safety
The grantee will implement interactive participatory training on noise (hearing conservation), machine/power tool hazards, fall hazards, and worker rights under OSHA. The training will focus on hazards faced by landscape service workers and will include a needs assessment to tailor the training to the equipment used by the audience.
University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Oshkosh WI $200,785 General Industry Safety & Health Programs
The grantee will develop and implement training for workers and employers regarding safety and health programs for small and medium-sized businesses located in Wisconsin. The training will focus on businesses that are involved in the manufacture, installation and maintenance of wind energy equipment.
