    Overview

    The Alliance will facilitate safety and health outreach to Spanish speaking individuals in the Wichita Kansas area with particular emphasis in the areas of non-English speaking worker and youth outreach/training to reduce construction and general industry hazards.

    Outreach and Communication

    • September 15, 2012 – The Annual Hispanic Health and Safety Fair was held. The fair was attended by 311 adults. This year’s fair featured OSHA seminars on Worker Rights, Fall Prevention, and Prevention of Struck by Accidents attended by 20 individuals. OSHA also set up and manned a booth to answer questions and disseminate bi-lingual outreach materials. A number of very valuable outreach services and health screenings were offered by various providers. The following is a list of those screenings followed by number of people who were screened.

  4. Upcoming Milestones / Challenges

    The 2013 fair will be held in October to coincide with Bi-National Health Week. Additionally, we will move the event to Martin Ortiz Elementary School to better serve our customers. It is hoped that these two changes for 2013 will result in a dramatic increase in attendance. OSHA will continue to play a very active role in planning and support for the 2013 fair with the WAO CAS continuing to serve on the planning committee as well as participation by other Wichita Area OSHA Office staff. As the alliance expired April 29th of 2013, we will propose renewal to the Café Con Leche Committee.
