U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
WISCONSIN AREA OFFICES
AND
THE WISCONSIN HEALTH CONSULTATION SERVICE
AND
THE WISCONSIN DENTAL ASSOCIATION

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Wisconsin Health Consultation Service and the Wisconsin Dental Association (WDA) recognize the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to foster safer and more healthful Wisconsin workplaces. Therefore, OSHA, the Wisconsin Health Consultation Service and the Wisconsin Dental Association hereby form an Alliance to use their collective expertise to work toward achieving the goals set forth in this agreement. This Alliance has no enforcement component and is entered into for the purpose of providing training and education, improving communications and promoting dialogue on workplace safety and health issues affecting the dental community.

OSHA, Wisconsin Health Consultations and the WDA will establish an Alliance to promote safe and healthful working conditions for the dental industry employers by:
  • Promote the use of existing OSHA web based tools, written materials, and free training resources.

  • Work cooperatively to disseminate relevant OSHA updates/informational article within the WDA journal, the Executive Directors Update and/or post on the WDA web.
OSHA, Wisconsin Health Consultations and the WDA will work together to achieve the following training and education goals: Participate in large scale WDA conferences if needed, and/or local component events:
  • Through this partnership, partners will build upon resources developed by WDA in conjunction with OSHA and the Wisconsin On-site Health Consultation and continue to develop dental-specific training programs, materials and guidance that will comprehensively address safety and health.

  • Participate in large scale WDA conferences if needed, and/or local component events.

  • Develop and disseminate to the dental community, points of contact within OSHA and the Wisconsin Health Consultation Service that are accessible to members and trained to meet the educational needs of dental offices and answer technical questions concerning safety and health issues.
OSHA Wisconsin Health Consultations and the WDA will work together to achieve the following outreach and communication goals:
  • Establish a level of trust whereby WDA members can begin to perceive OSHA as a resource that can be utilized to answer questions, and/or provide off-site compliance assistance.

  • Continue the relationship with Wisconsin Health consultation that provides both on-site consultation and off-site training and assistance.

  • Increase awareness of OSHA employer recognition programs such as the Volunteer Protection Program (VPP) offered through OSHA and the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) offered through the Wisconsin On-Site Consultations Services.

  • Work together to promote the dialogue on workplace safety and health by publicizing dental office success stories or positive results made possible through this alliance via print or electronic media, promotion at conferences, or other means of outreach.
An implementation team made up of representatives of all three organizations will meet to develop a plan of action, determine working procedures, and identify the roles and responsibilities of the participants. The implementation team, consisting of eight members, will attempt to meet twice a year to track and share information on activities and results in achieving the goals of the Alliance.

This initial agreement will remain in effect for one year. Any signatory may terminate it for any reason at any time, provided they give 30 days written notice. This agreement may be modified at any time with the concurrence of all signatories.
