Overview

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Ironworkers District Council of New England Labor-Management Cooperation Trust (LMCT), recognize the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to foster safer and more healthful American workplaces. OSHA and LMCT, hereby form an Alliance to provide LMCT members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees' health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to electrical, fall, struck-by, and crushed-by hazards.

Meeting with David Grafton and Vermont OSHA over SubPart R Training and other compliance issues.

November 2003
Met with Bridgeport, CT OSHA office with Action Steel for a hearing about full protection citations.
Action Steel will review Sub-Part R with men and increase awareness of fall protection requirements.

November 2003
Developed Hazard Awareness with class of Ironworkers Loca1 7 3rd year
apprentices with help of Dave Grafton.

January 2004
Developed a Safety Alert Newsletter insert for New England District Council newsletter - following serious accident involving an Ironworker from Local 7 in Boston (see item A) a thorough investigation by Methuen OSHA office lead to materials in article.

January 2004
Worked with OSHA (Dave Grafton) to develop immediate training for Ironworkers on Waltham Hospital job. OSHA 10 Hour and SubPart R training were given to all employees of Waltham job and also a job in Worcester.

March 2004
OSHA 30 Hour program for employees -coordinated with assistance from Dave Grafton, Pat Griffin and Charlie Williams.

Apri12004
Ironworker's job site death in Rhode Island. Worked with Dave Grafton and Compliance Inspectors at job closing conference.

May 2004
Met in Augusta, ME with OSHA staff and Dave Grafton to discuss SubPart R and Ironworkers assistance to clarify a communication problems.
