Time: 10:00 a.m.

Location: Hanger E, CCAFS - Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS), Florida

Description: Space Coast Launch Services Safety Day 2016/ National Fall Stand-down

Dave Rueh, LOSC Program Manager, started things off by highlighting the SCLS Team outstanding safety record and thanking all employees for their contributions. The current Recordable Injury Rate is 0.68, which equates to one recordable injury for the 292,732 labor hours worked during the past 12 months. To celebrate this achievement, a BBQ lunch catered by Charlie & Jakes was served and 20 employees received gift cards donated by the MWR Committee.

The guest speaker was Mr. Steve Shelley, 45th Security Forces Squadron Training Instructor, who gave an interesting and informative presentation on "Active Shooter" situations. In addition, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) conducted a demonstration using their "robot" and an EOD Technician to disarm a "fake" explosive device. Once again, Safety Day provided another great opportunity to promote the OSHA National Fall Stand-down, workplace safety and health, as well as celebrating the entire SCLS Team's safety achievements!
