Description: This event, called the "Rodeo", includes training for nearly 1000 students. It has been expanded to include formal classes for adult workers in the afternoon. Included in the training will be sessions on scaffold erection and dismantling and fall hazards. The main sponsor of this event is ABC-Associated Builders and Contractors. The student portion includes hands on demonstrations with a variety of trades and will include the demonstration of all protection equipment and the distribution of fall protection information.

New Haven

Location: Quinnipiac River Bridge Project, junction of I-95 interchange

Description: Walsh Construction is sponsoring a stand down for all employees on site. This will include training on fall hazards and fall protection. The Bridgeport OSHA Office Area Director will be discussing fall related accidents and reviewing OSHA enforcement policies and procedures when dealing with fall related inspections and investigations. Local 478 Operating Engineers will be speaking about rigging issues and concerns as well.

Rocky Hill

Date: May 12, 2015

Time: 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Location: 1800 Rear Silas Dean Highway

Description: On May 12, 2015, the Hartford Connecticut Area Office will be part of a 2015 Fall Stand-down event. The event will be conducted at the Independent Electrical Contractors Association's facility in Rocky Hill, CT. The Independent Electrical Contractors Association will host and advertise the event which will be open to all trade contractors and their employees, at no cost. While the event's primary purpose is Fall Stand-Down prevention, there will be other outreach break-out session to include the following; noise in construction, heat stress, arc flash awareness, and two personal fall arrest systems sales reps showing state of the art fall protection equipment. The Hartford Area Office Compliance Assistance Specialist will also have a table to hand out OSHA National construction publications and answer any technical questions. An Industrial Hygienist from the Hartford Area Office will be conducting training at the event and the Area Director will be present.

Description: As part of the Western MA OSHA Alliance, OSHA, American Safety Supply, and Little Giant Ladder will be putting on fall protection and ladder safety training. This will include a review of hazards associated with falls, OSHA's regulations on fall hazards, and a demonstration on fall protection equipment and safe ladder use.

Description: High school students throughout Boston will receive demonstrative training to include fall hazards and fall protection from the carpenters and laborers union at the professional development day. Students will receive training on fall hazards and fall protection.

In addition, an update will be given by the Compliance Assistance Specialist and the Acting Area Director for the Braintree Area OSHA office on fall related accidents and fatalities that have occurred in the area along with a review of OSHA enforcement policies and procedures for fall related inspections.

Description: Shawmut Construction Company will be hosting a fall stand down training session for all workers on the construction site. This will include a basic overview of fall hazards and fall protection measures in addition to an update by the Compliance Assistance Specialist from the Springfield Area OSHA office on fall related accidents and fatalities that have occurred in the area.

Manchester

Location: Manchester Community College, 1066 Front St., Auditorium 126

Description: There will be a "Stand down to prevent falls in construction" kick off meeting that will include a presentation by the Concord NH OSHA office on falls and fall hazards in construction. This one hour presentation will discuss methods of fall protection available, OSHA regulation with regard to fall hazards, and a discussion on the impact of falls in workplace.
