This section of the eTool module on Ship Repair presents safe work practices (SWPs) related to fall protection that should be followed when workers are using marine hanging staging in ship repair operations.

Specifically, this section addresses considerations and precautions regarding particular guardrail systems. Also addressed are precautions that should be followed when workers are conducting blasting or coating operations without a guardrail. In addition, this section presents recommended safe practices for moving and otherwise handling materials in conjunction with the use of marine hanging staging.
