Mechanical Operations:
Machine Operators
Machine OperatorBecause they are normally enclosed in the cab of their machine, operators are at less risk than manual loggers. However, the basic requirements for training and personal protective equipment and other hand tools are still applicable. See the Logger section for a description of these requirements. Although there are no specific OSHA requirements, ergonomic stress to body joints is a hazard for machine operators. Shoulder, arm, and wrist injuries, such as carpel tunnel syndrome, are a major cause of lost-work-day injuries for these workers.
