Unfunded Mandates: Undetermined Legal Authority: 29 USC 655(b); 33 USC 941 CFR Citation: 29 CFR 1915.71 Legal Deadline: None Abstract: During the 1980s, OSHA embarked on a project to update and consolidate the various OSHA standards that were applied in the shipbuilding, shiprepair, and shipbreaking industry. Shipyard employers are subject to both shipyard and general industry standards, and this project aimed at establishing a vertical standard for shipyard employment. A proposal on scaffolds was issued in November 1988 (53 FR 48092). The next action in this rulemaking is undetermined.
