2165. GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS FOR SHIPYARD EMPLOYMENT Priority: Substantive, Nonsignificant. Major status under 5 USC 801 is undetermined. It will revise text in the CFR to reduce burden or duplication, or streamline requirements. Legal Authority: 29 USC 655(b); 33 USC 941 CFR Citation: 29 CFR 1915, subpart F Legal Deadline: None Abstract: During the 1980s, OSHA embarked on a project to update and consolidate the various OSHA shipyard standards that were applied in the shipbuilding, shiprepair, and shipbreaking industry. Publication of a proposal addressing general working conditions in shipyards is part of this project. The operations addressed in this rulemaking relate to housekeeping, illumination, sanitation, first aid, and lockout/tagout. About 75,000 workers are exposed annually to these hazards.
