OSHA HONORS TOBYHANNA ARMY DEPOT WITH HIGHEST HONOR
The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration will officially welcome Tobyhanna Army Depot, Tobyhanna, Pa. into its STAR program at a plaque and flag ceremony on Tues., Nov. 21, 2000. The ceremony will take place at the depot's headquarters, 11 Hap Arnold Boulevard, Tobyhanna, Pa. Richard Soltan, OSHA regional administrator will make the presentation at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Tobyhanna Army Depot provides full-service support for military communications-electronics systems, including: communications, command control and computers, intelligence/electronic warfare and satellite communication systems. The site is noted for having a three-year injury and illness rate 54 percent below the industry average.
The site was initially inducted into OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program as a MERIT site-a stepping stone to STAR-- in June 1999. The STAR program, designed for worksites with comprehensive, successful safety and health programs, is open to any industry, and to companies with injury rates below the industry's national average
