Hospital For Safety and Health Success SAYRE, Pa. -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration recently inducted Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, Pa., into its Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) as a MERIT site. MERIT is the first level in the VPP and a stepping stone to STAR, the highest distinction. The facility is a 258-bed tertiary care teaching hospital, which offers traditional and minimally-invasive procedures including heart surgery, comprehensive cancer care, laser surgery and corneal transplants. One of five hospitals in the VPP program nationwide, Robert Packer is the first hospital in Pennsylvania to achieve this honor. Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, the Voluntary Protection Program is OSHA's premier recognition program designed to promote effective safety and health management by employers. ###
