Company For Safety And Health Success By Giving Highest Honor WILMINGTON, De. -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration will officially induct Naramco of Delaware, Inc., Wilmington, De. into its Voluntary Protection Program as a MERIT site at a special flag ceremony on Fri., June 7, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will take place at Naramco Headquarters, 500 Swedes Landing Road, Wilmington, De. Richard Soltan, OSHA regional administrator, will make the presentation. Noramco manufactures active pharmaceutical ingredients, derived from imported opium, that are used for pain relief. The company is noted for having three-year recordable injury and illness rate that is 18 percent below the industry average. The MERIT program is a stepping stone to STAR participation, the highest VPP honor. An employer with a basic safety and health program built around the STAR requirements, committed to improving the company's program, and who has the resources to do so within a specified period of time may work with OSHA to meet STAR qualifications. ### U.S. Labor Department news releases are accessible on the Internet at http://www.dol.gov.
