JOB SAFETY AND HEALTH ASSISTANCE TO FLORIDA IN WAKE OF HURRICANE CHARLEY WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is providing technical assistance on avoiding safety hazards to Florida workers, employers and public agencies engaged in clean-up and recovery operations in the wake of Hurricane Charley. OSHA staff are working in conjunction with FEMA and other state and local agencies in this effort. As part of this effort, OSHA is feeding a public service announcement to Florida television stations today (August 20, 2004) from 2:00 to 2:15 p.m. The PSA consists of a 30-second and a 60-second message from John Henshaw, head of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the U.S. Department of Labor. The PSA provides a toll-free number for Florida workers, employers and officials to call with questions about job safety and health concerns, as well as a Web site link for more information.
