Crane and Derrick Negotiated Rulemaking Committee to
Meet in Washington, Sept. 3-5

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Crane and Derrick Negotiated Rulemaking Committee (C-DAC) will hold its second public meeting in Washington, D.C., Sept. 3-5.

The meeting will be held at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210. The Sept. 3 session will be in conference room C5310-1A/B. The Sept. 4 and 5 sessions will be in conference room N3437 A, B and C.

The second meeting of C-DAC will continue discussion on developing a recommended proposal for a construction standard on cranes and derricks. Members of the committee also will adopt ground rules, discuss schedule for future meetings, and address additional issues.

The committee is chartered to function as a part of OSHA's rulemaking process to revise the existing standards for cranes and derricks in construction. Members of the committee will identify key issues, evaluate their importance, analyze the information necessary to resolve the issues, and work to reach a consensus on the coverage and the substance of a recommendation. If the committee reaches a consensus, the recommendation on proposed regulatory language will be submitted to the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health and then be published for public comment.

Notice of the C-DAC meeting is scheduled to appear in the August 15 Federal Register. Written comments to the committee may be submitted to the OSHA Docket Office, Docket No. S-030, Room N-2625, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. Comments may also be submitted via fax by calling (202) 693-2350, or electronically to http://ecomments.osha.gov.
