| SUBJECT: |
Evaluation of Winchester Industries Portable Lights for Use in Ship Repair Work |
My staff has reviewed and evaluated the material presented to us and our comments are as follows:
Both Maritime Standards, 29 CFR 1915.12(f) and 29 CFR 1915.24(b)(7), state that the U.S. Bureau of Mines is an authorized agency to approve explosion proof lights.
The U.S. Bureau of Mines approved the lights in question on August 17, 1972 and submitted Report BM-506.
This office would, therefore, consider these particular Winchester Industry Lights as permissible.
