SUBJECT:        Clarification of 29 CFR 1926.855(b) and (f)

REFERENCE:      Your Memorandum Dated May 25, 1979

The term floor arch as it is being used in the section for manual removal of floors, 29 CFR 1926.855, means the masonry filling between the floor beams and girders, irrespective of the type of floor system.

The American National Standard ANSI A10.6-1969, Safety Requirements for Demolition section 3, defines the term floor arches as indicated above, and was used by the Construction Task Force as the source document for 29 CFR 1926.855(b) and (f).
