Abstract:
The administrative stay of 29 CFR 1910.1048 (m)(1)(i) through (m)(4) (ii) will be effective until 2/4/92. These paragraphs of the 12/4/87 final rule were previously stayed on 12/13/88, and the stay was extended on 8/29/89, 6/13/90, 12/17/90, 3/12/91, 6/12/91 and 8/8/91. On 7/15/91, OSHA published a proposal to resolve several remaining issues on formaldehyde, including those raised by the stayed paragraphs (56 FR 32302). The public was given until 8/14/91 to comment on the proposal. OSHA is completing its analysis of the comments and developing a final response. Consequently the stay is being extended for an additional 90 days, to 2/4/91. While this stay is in effect, affected employers must continue to comply with the provisions of OSHA''s Hazard Communication Standard. Contact: James Foster, (202)523-8151.
