Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: HEAT

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to heat related hazards: On or about August 2, 2011: Employees working at the jobsite located at 625 Garfield in Clarendon, Arkansas, were exposed to excessive heat levels without the appropriate amount of work/rest cycles and or proper fluid intake, while removing lumber from the green chain. The victim was transported via ambulance to Baptist Medical Center in Stuttgart, Arkansas where he arrived 65 minutes after fainting, with a rectal temperature of 108 degrees. The victim was then transported via life flight helicopter to Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas where he passed away.
