SLTC and CTC Evaluate Direct-Reading Instruments

The SLTC not only offers the most sophisticated analytical equipment available, but also the undivided attention to OSHA's health monitoring program. One of the most significant aspects of lab support is the evaluation of, or development of sampling and analytical methods for health compliance monitoring. Most commerical labs do not have this capability, and if they do, it is on a limited basis. In addition, the lab also provides product evaluations of commerically available monitoring products (sort of a Consumer Reports of detector tubes, gas monitoring equipment, etc). Shown in this slide is a chemist assembling an appartus to examine both a new sampling method and any direct reading instruments available for the specific compound.
