    • Should be rated intrinsically safe for use in the particular hazardous location
    • Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) - 29 CFR 1910.7
    • Hazardous locations defined in National Electrical Code
      • Division I - hazardous under normal conditions
      • Division II - hazardous under abnormal conditions
