Catalytic Sensors
  • Disadvantages
    • Different responses for each combustible gas.
    • Can be "poisoned" by some gases and vapors such as, halogenated hydrocarbons, silicon vapor, etc..
    • Slight poisoning may affect measurement of some gases more than others.
    • Must have at least 10% oxygen to work properly.
    • Some combustible gases are also toxic in much lower concentrations. However, combustible sensors are not sensitive enough to detect the combustible gas at toxic limits.
