<< Back to Workshop - What to Look for in Gas Detection and Measurement Instrumentation

    TEXT VERSION OF SLIDE:

    Title: Catalytic Sensors

    Type: Text Slide

    Content:
    • Disadvantages
      • Different responses for each combustible gas.
      • Can be "poisoned" by some gases and vapors such as, halogenated hydrocarbons, silicon vapor, etc..
      • Slight poisoning may affect measurement of some gases more than others.
      • Must have at least 10% oxygen to work properly.
      • Not sensitive enough to detect gas at toxic limits.
    Notes:

      • Must have at least 10% oxygen to work properly.
      • Some combustible gases are also toxic in much lower concentrations. However, combustible sensors are not sensitive enough to detect the combustible gas at toxic limits.
